I have to say I'm still more than a little worried that my characters won't end up having the same feel which troubles me far more than the mechanics. I'm more worried about Hadrian than Kale in this respect. I wish I could say what in particular I was worried about, but with only a remote knowledge of 2nd edition at this point I can't really picture what he will look like on paper. I don't think I've ever seen the Crusader class before, but it hardly sounds like a fit for the Bleak Cabal, and I know the Madmen have no limitations against Clerics but I find it difficult to justify combining such disparate theologies in one character. The Crusader suggestion was logorrhea on my part; it doesn't make a whole lot of sense with Hadrian. I'll give it some thought and see if I can come up with a solution. I guess more than anything I'm writing to make one final plea for keeping the hybrid system in play. I think after all the work you've already invested, none of us needs to be clamoring for additional sources to be included. There is quite frankly more than enough already posted to make everyone happy. If you chose to update the boards with new books from time to time, it should be done purely at your leisure without coming at the expense of your family life. We all know life comes before the game. The 2e conversion that I appear to be churning out is actually a long-time consideration of mine and the result of having run AD&D in many different ways with many different optional rules. After the end of my last 2e game, I considered the changes I would make should I ever run it again, hence the posts that I've been hodgepodging out of .pdfs and Dragon Magazines. I have a proposition. We'll hang onto the 3.x character sheets. The system is still incomplete, of course, but the game's been running pretty well on the skeleton, and I'll probably continue tooling around with it and filling in the blanks. If, after a trial run of the hopefully-improved 2e system, people would rather go back to 3.Stix, we could just add the XP and keep on moving. I'd rather this be the last rule change for simplicity's sake, but I'm not opposed to the idea.

According to the skills and powers book Bards would gain an additional 70CP along with the starting race CP. Already I am seeing no way to customize Hilathic into what he is here. This isn't a limitation on 2.0 but a limitation on the Character Points systems that doesn't have the flaws and bonuses that I took here. Not having warlock is also limiting because I built Hilathic to disdain hand to hand combat and the need for any type on encumbering clothing yet still have a sustainable damage ability with Eldritch blast. Maybe 3.stix is for the best. This maybe even more work for you helping us retool our characters and make the nessisary rule changes to 2.0 that would be needed. Again I would like to point out this is not limitations of 2.0, the rules are there already, just more things we can spend CP's on must be added to make this work.

The basic Skills & Powers rules give CP values for customizing race and class from the ground up (which I feel is too much bookkeeping), and saving to spend on proficiencies in the S&P system (which are grossly underpowered). I've kept the standardized races and classes, but new abilities can be added on with CPs. If people really like the idea of custom classes, I'd consider bringing in that option. The Warlock is another of the classes that lacks a good 2e equivalent. One could come pretty close with an Invoker or Force Mage (perhaps toting the Extra Bonus Spell option). Do you have any suggestions in mind for abilities to be added to the lists?

If people really like the idea of custom classes, I'd consider bringing in that option. If we were to go with that option, then Gl'Fnak could just go back to exactly how he was before any of this 3rd ed silliness. I just didn't want to be the one to suggest it, open that can of worms and have everyone else jumping in wanting everything customized.

What are feats other then just skill and power abilities? And you have a list of additional flaws they would just need a CP allocation added to them. I guess that was my point I just didn't make it very well. Skills and powers is totally why I never understood the need for an entire revision of D&D.
And I see what you have done with classes, you have made them a base class instead of having to purchase your powers. I guess it's just the thought that I would start with a base of 5CP to try to build Hilathic. Depending on CP gained per level if you are doing that, I maybe able to work with that.

Multiclass PCs gain 5 per level with their fastest-advancing class and 2 per level for their second-fastest (if they have three classes, the slowest class gives 1 per level). Dual-classers gain 5 per "new" level (the highest out of any of their classes), and 1 CP per level after 1st in subsequent classes. Single-classed PCs get 5 bonus points up-front and 5 every level. For stats, the following: Total points | Highest Stat | 89 | 16 x1 | 88 | 16 x2 | 87 | 16 x3+ | 86 | 17 x1 | 85 | 17 x2 | 84 | 17 x3+ | 83 | 18 x1 (18/01) | 82 | 18 x2 (18/51) | 81 | 18 x3 (18/76) | 80 | 19 x1 (18/91) | 79 | 19 x2 (18/00) | 78 | 19 x2 (19) |
Parenthetical values are the limit of a warrior's strength score; moving up one category costs an ability score point.

I think we keep da stats we have. And maybe roll fer strengthiness. That brings up another good question. If you're allowing us to raise stats every 4 levels, how would exceptional strength work? Would it be like one stat point = one step (i.e., none -> 01, 01 -> 51, 51 -> 76, 76 -> 91, 91 -> 00, 00 -> Str 19)? Can non-warriors get exceptional strength this way?

Each stat point moves up one exceptional strength category. Non-warriors can only achieve exceptional strength if they've bought the capability as a class feature.

So, does this mean that all of us are rerolling stats? Or is this just an option if needed? Also, I just had a look at the Traits and Disadvantages. I can see Wraith being Absent Minded, although something like this isn't listed. I was wondering if we could make some suggestions for additional Traits/Disadvantages?

I seem to remember talking to you about this but can't find any posts on it, so it might have been in person or on AIM. Can you spend CPs on improving the modifier on non-weapon proficiencies? Are there any ways to spend CPs other than on race/class features and traits? Do you have the game-mechanics for the Traits/Disadvantages?

CPs can be spent for: - Racial Abilities (by cost)
- Class Abilities (by cost)
- Advantages (by cost)
- Weapon Proficiencies (2 for warriors, 3 for others)
- Nonweapon Proficiencies (3 for a 1-slot proficiency, 5 for a 2-slot, 6 for a 3-slot)
- Languages (2)
- to improve a proficiency score by 1 (1)
- to adjust the result of one of your attack rolls, saving throws, ability checks, or proficiency checks by 1d6 (1)
Many of the advantages/disadvantages don't have game mechanics (those that do are in Skills & Powers, to which I have no access without my own computer).

What about for improving Psionic power checks?

Oy, with the 50-60 hour weeks.
2 CPs can improve a Power Score by one.
