Vatndir's Background
While portals aren't constant, they can sometimes reoccur in set places. One such set place is the Well Hvergelmir in Niflheim, the source of all rivers. Once, Loki instruded his priests that it would be a fabulous prank on Odin and Thor if his priests were to set up a temple to him in the Elemental Plane of Water, which Thor had recently discovered, and considered visiting. Loki figured that he could convince Thor that it was the elemental Plane of Loki.
With much difficulty, the priests travelled through the well, and started Loki's bidding. One priest fell in love with a native nereid, and Vatndir was the result. However, before Vatndir was born, Loki grew tired of the prank (which was too easy) and called his priests home. Forced to chose between his family and his god, Vatndir's father had no choice but to return to Ysgard.
Vatndir spent his youngest years in the Plane of Water, mingling with the creatures and the natives. His mother always told him that Loki had sent the priests to the plane of Water specifically to cause his birth.
Vatndir's mother always told him that Loki had sent his priests to the Elemental Plane of Water JUST to cause Vatndir's birth, and the universe had great plans for him. She also spoiled him, giving in to his vivid imagination and whims. Eventually, Vatndir took it upon himself to go find his father, and discover more about the multiverse. He found the portal that his father had originally used had returned, and swam through it. His father was shocked to see him, but overjoyed. He immediately took Vatndir in and started raising him in the ways of Loki.
Vatndir is familially Lokish. Dad was a Loki Priest, mom a convert. They raised Vat in the ways of Loki, so he "worships" Loki out of familal upbringing and tradition. Vatndir respects him b/c he was responsible for Vatndir's parents meeting and forming Vatndir. (From a signer point of view, he was a god specifically designed to allow for Vatndir's creation). Vatndir don't worship him as a power, but would have the background of being raised in the faith. I realize that there is a strange quality to Vatndir having been raised worshiping Loki - he's the god of fire. Vatndir's dad twisted it when he taught Vatndir and his mother, convincing them that he was a water god. Vatndir never fully bought it, but his mother did.
Vatndir, got to spend the next few formative years of his life in the Norse Waters, learning new ways and making new friends. Unfortunatley, most of those friends were Loki worshipers, giving him a twisted streak. He has come to the conclusion that everything happens for him. Even the gods have no freedom to do something that doesn't somehow invovle him.
Vatndir is pretty good at dodging things and avoiding danger. Its something that was important in the time in Ysgard. In Vatndir's words: "I remember one day, when I was swimming in the river Vimur, when this stupid giant started throwing stones at me. BIG ONES. Fortunately, I was able to swim and dodge my way out of harm until Loki (with Thor's help) took her out for me.
Vatndir's also had much experience avoiding and escaping nets. Again in his words: "I remember one time when Hymir was fishing with Thor and he kept throwing nets out. I was so distracted when Thor landed Midgarsormen that I got caught in the net and had to escape. It was much harder than the silly little nets of the shores of the ocean of Midgard (if thats considered part of Ysgard, otherwise the shores of the rivers of Hvergelmer). The worst net I ever had to avoid however, was the one they used to catch Loki in the River at Franang Falls. "
Vatndir has swam all of the rivers of Ysgad, Sid, Vid, Sekin, Ekin, Svol, Gunnthro, Fiorm, Fimulthul, Gipul, Gopul, Gomul, Geirvimul, Thyn, Vin, Tholl, Boll, Grad, Gunnthrain, Nyt, Not, Nonn, Hronn, Vina, Veg, Svinn, Thiodnuma and even Gioll.. Vatndir didn't swim Gioll much, as he though Hel gave him some nasty looks when he did. Vatndir considered that her problem, though, saying "Niffelheim may be hers, but Gioll is all mine." Vatndir frequented the river formed of Fenrir's drool.
Vatndir's Philosophy
I am the center of the multiverse. Everything happens to me and/or because of me. If I don't do things, nothing will happen, and that's not fair to everyone else. So its my responsibility as the center of the universe to poke my nose into everything.
Description of Vatndir Farbðutirson
Vatndir's got sea weed-esq hair, which waves up in a firey/watery motion when in the water, but on land rests in a seattle-esq grunge style doo (unless he remembers to comb it up). Vatndir's got greenishblue skin reminicent of the waters of the Hverghjelme, with faint scales that are only apparent if you look very closely. His eyes are black, like a nerid's but often take a red sheen when the light hits them just right. He's got webbed hands and feet. He wear a mix of clothing made by his mom and/or by his father's temple. The overall outfit is very "Loki" priest in style, having both flowing concealing portions and tighness around various joints to not inhibit movement. He has a thin outer robe that he wears on land - though only after it has been drenched in water. His armor/main outfit is comprized of the scales of the great serpent Jormungand (ok, actually its probably just some big serpent, but mom and dad said it was Jormungand Armor, and he believes him), highlighted with abalone and other shells for sholders, elbows, etc. He carries a very nice pearl hilted, shell bladded knife. Most of his throwing knives are shell, pearl or riverstone rather than metal. Vatndir made his main knife from stones and pearls found in the Gioll, and believes the stones to be the stones and pearls of the dead from Niffelhelm. He also does have one "Loki" knife, from his father's temple. He carries a Loki symbol, but only tends to wear it in his fathers's presence (or when he thinks it would help).

Vatndir's Quote:
"Sure you can prove you are real, but my imagination fueled the multiverse to make you so that I could encounter you right now - your home plane? Sure I may not KNOW that I imagined it, but I had to imagine SOMEPLACE for you to come from, didn't I?"
