Gl'Fnak heads into the Friendly Fiend, escaping the torrential downpour that just broke loose. Stepping into the foyer, the tiefling lowers his hood and shakes the dank, black precipitate from his cloak.
Glancing around the store and not immediately seeing the arcanoloth proprietor, the Cipher begins to peruse the shelves of arcane miscellany.

"Hello!" comes A'kin's familiar voice from somewhere in the stockroom. "I'll be right with you, cutter; feel free to browse."
After a minute or two, the arcanaloth returns to the front end of the store, toting his usual silver tea tray. "Good to see you again, Gl'Fnak," he says as though having expected him. "I've made an Arborean sugar tea; I hope it's to your liking." Expecting that the Cipher will take him up on his hospitality, he pours for them both, trying to make him feel at home with a display of action without thought.
"What brings you here on this fine day?" he asks with a toothy smile.

Gl'Fnak continues perusing the various shelves and displays until A'kin appears from the rear of the store. Turning presently, the tiefling proceeds to the small sitting area where the yugoloth is readying the cups of tea. Returning his smile the Cipher nods in appreciation and takes a seat and the proffered cup. After briefly inhaling the steaming liquid's effluvium, he replies"an upcoming job is taking me to Ysgard and I was looking for some new equipment. Unless you've something more specialized or uniquely helpful, perhaps some new steel or armor." Having savoured the brewed beverage's bouquet, the tiefling takes a small sip and looks to arcanoloth.

"Ysgard, you say," the arcanaloth echoes, stroking the tuft of fur on his chin thoughtfully. "I do have an enchanted Ysgardian hand axe, and perhaps a few other items that could be of use, depending on the circumstances of your trip. What price range are you considering?"

The initial sip of tea proves quite delectable, broadening Gl'Fnak's smile slightly more. "Hafted weapons aren't exactly my forte. Large blades and crossbows are my preference, though I'm also fairly handy with hurled projectiles. The job is simply minder service through some wilderness areas of Ysgard. As for price, I've the howling scimitar I got from you some time ago if I can find a better suited blade. Have about four grand in jink, some various gems and a couple potions I could part with." Awaiting A'kin's reaction, the horse-legged tiefling sips a bit more of the sweet brewed beverage.

Awaiting A'kin's reaction, the horse-legged tiefling sips a bit more of the sweet brewed beverage. " As arms go, I regrettably have nothing available that would suit you any better within that price range. If you plan to travel between earthbergs, however, I can offer a potion of flying or a draft-boat to lessen those dangers." The arcanaloth pauses for a moment to sip his tea, tapping one taloned finger on the edge of his teacup thoughtfully. " Do you know where on Ysgard your ride will take you?"

Gl'Fnak shrugs at the yugoloth's reply. "The travel arrangements are all being handled by the employer, I'm just a bodyguard. While I haven't been lanned of the specifics, for the jink being offered he's not taking us to Muspelheim or Nidavellir," he says with a grin. Quaffing a bit more of the tea he inquires, "if not weapons, something to keep my skin intact perhaps?"

"I do have a suit of enchanted Murska-shell armor from Pandemonium, but I'm afraid it's quite costly, around twenty thousand. Enchanted arms and armors are being snapped up all across the Cage; it's a curious and slightly alarming trend."

"A bit more than I'd care to part with, though worth every last copper I'd warrant. Are more enchanted items disappearing than the usual merchants, buyers and collectors should account for?" Without waiting for a reply to the question, he inquires, "the draft boat - how portable is it and how much do you want for it?"

"Four thousand; it folds into a one-foot cube when unmanned and the command word is spoken.
"The demand on armaments... I'll put it this way: the Sinkers have begun to come to me for weapons. Whatever it is that's brewing, it's more than a simple investment trend, I am certain." He sips his tea pensively, observing the various items on his shelves, lingering in particular on an unusual, glyph-like sculpture of polished, bright crimson marble.

"I'll pass along word of the draft boat to my employer." Gl'Fnak takes another draught of the sweet tea while A'kin is talking. Noting the carved red rock that had drawn the yugoloth's eye, the tiefling says, "alarming indeed. But what is it that causes your eye to sit transfixed for so long?"

"The Butterfly," A'kin says with a hint of reverence in his tone. "Red marble quarried on Arcadia, smuggled out and fenced through the Teardrop Palace. An unusual material, believed to be truth in mineral form. It was crafted into this shape by an illithid -- though he almost certainly did not give the piece its name -- and has changed hands several times before coming to me.
"I was but ruminating. I'm quite sure I wouldn't know where to begin pricing it."

Watching the Arcanoloth intently and with great curiosity while he describes the sculpture of crimson stone. "What properties does it exhibit that the chant would tell it to be mineralized truth?"
Then, with a smirk and a roll of his eyes toward his headgear, Gl'Fnak comments, "whatever else be said, the mind flayers do make nice...decorations."
