We basically put a wrap on that and started up new plot... but here's some of how things went down:
The harginn brought the group to a large air pocket (host to a trading post), forced everyone off the ship, and proceeded to lay waste to the place, taking goods and slaves. Anyone who refused to aid them would have been taken prisoner along with the rest (this could be a potential out for Jocyl).
The PCs then carried on in the ship a few more days to the Emir's stronghold (on an outcropping of basalt in a torturously hot -- but survivable -- air pocket), where he was delighted to receive his shipment and promptly offered his hospitality (which, for anyone lacking innate or magically-created fire resistance, would have proven fatal -- not out of malice on his part, but nothing grows on Fire that isn't on fire... "lesser food" is for his slaves, not guests). Where A'kin requested a nebulous "twelve" in payment, the efreeti lord brought everyone to the slave pens, rounded up his stock (humanoids of all races), and took the jewels sent along with Gl'Fnak.
The PCs were asked to select slaves to be sent in payment. Once all twelve had been chosen, the efreeti sent them off with some of his household guard to be prepared for the return trip. (Among the ranks of the slaves was Ember's mother, but that's basically moot -- we'll say she bought her freedom.) When everyone was scheduled for departure with the harginn, Gl'Fnak had the jewels returned to him -- each one aglow with the soul of a slave.
Return to Sigil, pass the souls over to A'kin, curse lifted, "Okay, everybody, XP."
