The gray mid-day light fades to a bleak, rank haze when Wraith trudges back to the Society tents. Though a little less busy than at Peak hour, the tents still swarmed with spellslingers and travellers wanting to take advantage of this rare event. She meanders silently through the crowd, enters the tent, and glances about until she finds an opening to the tables. Pushing through the crowd again, she stops before the nearest clerk, and calls out;
"Excuse me, basher. I'm looking for some spell formulae, from the schools of Necromancy, Illusion, Abjuration, Divination, Alteration and Enchantments, and the second and third houses. These come to mind. Though if you don't have all of these now, I can always return at a later date." She hands over a list with some spell names scrawled in neat script on a sheet of papyrus. "Lastly, I'm looking for some relevant information on the Elemental and the Energy Planes, and any keys one might need to experiment with this energy."

[ooc: how much will the listed spells cost, and does wraith have the available funds?]

"Three hundred twenty gold pieces," says the bearded human in vermilion robe and skullcap. "But I'm only able to fill the second-house requests at the favorable price. It's all that we're offering today.
"However, I'm willing to propose a bargain. If you'll double that sum, I'll personally procure for you any four of your third-house spell selections."

Wraith considers this for a moment, pursing her lips thoughtfully. There's no sense in telling him I don't have that kind of jink... at least not enough to double the price they're asking.
"No, that will be fine, thankyou basher. I'll just settle for the Second House selection." She pauses, considering which spells in that list will be of greatest use to her. "What's the going rate for a smaller number of the spells I've requested?
Resist Energy See Invisibility Hideous Laughter Blur Invisiblity False Life Spectral Hand Scare Ghoul Touch Alter Self Minor Image Mirror Image..." She lists off the required spells on her fingers.
"Also, do you have something a bit more exotic in the way of First or Second House Necromantic spells? I recently purchased a copy of Blood Bridge, which I understand is somewhat of a rarity compared to what's being taught these days. I was wondering if you might have something else just as uncommon, or perhaps originating from the same world?"

"Ah, yes," the spellslinger says with a conspiratorial grin, gesturing over his shoulder with a jab of his thumb. "Everyone wants to plumb the secrets of these halls. A colleague of mine is a Necromancer, and he's told me of a handful of lesser animation spells that have been all but forgotten, plucked from the collection of an undead spellslinger some decades ago."
He steps in closer, lowering his voice. "I can get hold of something for you -- first house for a hundred gold pieces, two hundred for second house, and on like that. But you've got to keep it dark, and you didn't get it from me. What do you say?"

"Animation, you say?" She whispers in an equally low voice, understanding the need for discretion here. "I might be interested. I'm not keen on dabbling with the undead. I'm more concerned with how my art, and it's secrets will benefit the living." Wraith pauses for a moment, hoping that the spellslinger would understand her meaning.
"How useful might these spells be in the creation of, say, a Flesh Golem, Homonculus or other similar construct? There's a series of experiments I wish to conduct, involving positive energy and how it can be channelled to heal wounds, and revive dead flesh. I believe that, and the spells I've already acquired, may be a good start." The last is whispered barely loud enough for the spellslinger to hear.

"Hmm," the spellslinger starts. "A flesh golem is a tall order -- ninth-house stuff or some exceedingly rare components -- but a homonculus is easy to do with a little alchemy, alteration and illusion, third house and below.
"And blood, of course," he adds. "It's never the jink that stops them, it's the idea of giving up a bowl of blood.
"Truth be told, I'm not sure myself what's in there, or what good it might do for your research. If you want some time to think on it, I'm at Ninety-one Old Joinery Lane. Semyon."

"Sometimes we sacrifice what we must to create life, artificial or otherwise." Wraith whispers with all honesty, suspecting that throughout the course of her study and experimentation, she would be called upon to donate more than a few pints of blood.
Considering Semyon's suggestion, she nods her assent. "Yes, that would be most welcome, cutter. Thank you." She pauses, drawing her labret stud in with her teeth, and pops it out again with the tip of her tongue. It was a bad habit of hers, fiddling with her jewellery like this. "Should I make a breakthrough with either experiment, I'd be willing to share the fruits of my research with you and the Society. My hope is that someday I will make my mark as a wizard and physician, and that others will benefit from my discoveries."
