Yes, I have a bariaur Sensate I would like to play. His name is Sirocco (like the wind). I am most familiar with 2e but I can handle 3.x concepts as well. How do we start the character generation process?

As far as running a mini-game, I would love that! I have an introductory adventure set in the old Judges Guild universe (City State of the Invincible Overlord) that introduces a group of clueless primes to PS and eventually brings them to Sigil. This adventure is how I brought my original gaming group into PS when it first came out.

I also have a planar romp that focuses a group of Sensates on a dare made by their Cipher friends to basically do a scavenger hunt though the planes for various objects. I used this as a tournament-style game at our local Science-Fiction convention (Archon) a few years ago.

I can put together something else if you give me a seed of an idea if neither of these suit your plans.

Let me know what you think and how to move ahead on generating my bariaur character.

Make a new thread on this board, entitled with your character name. I'll modify the first post to include his sheet, and we'll both be able to edit the sheet thereafter. For now, just include the basics (race, alignment, faction), and his gestalt class (a fusion of two classes in which you take the best features of each). See the Site Guide on the OOC board for class details.

Both game concepts sound good to me. I've heard of CSIO in passing, but I'm unfamiliar. Any recommended reading?

Judges Guild was a company that produced supplements to AD&D. They went out of business but it looks like they have returned! www.judgesguild.com

I have a bit of the original stuff but not any of the reprints they look like they are selling on their new site.

I'll have to dig in my archives to see what I still have.

Consult the Ability Score Generation Chart for info on how to decide Sirocco's starting stats. Once you've got an Int score, we'll be able to split up your skill points, and you can jump right into the game as of then if you like (we can worry about the rest along the way).

I've finally done the ability scores and some basic appearance entries on the character sheet.

I think you said the next thing was skills and I guess I need help with that too.

No worries at all.

It sounds to me like you've got a good idea of Sirocco's personality and physical characteristics, and the concept is worlds more important than the mechanics -- so, if you want to jump into play right away, you're welcome to do so. If you need an easy jumping-off point, the Ysgard job at Tensar's Employment Service still needs a few more applicants; while there's no love lost between the Sensates and the Bleakers, neither do the factions expressly consider one another enemies.

Sirocco will have 20 points to divide among skills; no more than 4 points may be spent on a single skill at this time. At least one point each must be spent on Knowledge (Factions) and Knowledge (the Planes).

Ok, I posted in the Tensar's thread. I took the liberty of mentioning a place that I can be found - The Prancing Ki-Rin Saloon. It is actually a bar in the City State of the Invincible Overlord (Judges Guild) but if you would like I can give you a description and you can plunk it into the Lower Ward or the Hive. If you do not want this done I will modify my post and put in a tavern that already exists in Sigil.

As far as the Gymnasium scene goes, we'll say that Liam (the NPC tiefling in the pool) is a chantmonger who's traded stories or otherwise done business with Sirocco before. News would have reached Sirocco about a bebilith attack near the Gymnasium, and it's a cinch that a curious Sensate would seek out the most knowledgeable person he could in such a rare and genuinely bizarre event.

I'm looking for Sirocco's original 3.X sheet. It hasn't yet turned up (I may have accidentally deleted it rather than move it to my "defunct sheet" board). If you want to scheme up a 2e sheet in the meantime, be my guest -- just start a new thread on this board.

I've put into play a modified Skills & Powers system, and added on the number of Sirocco's current Character Points at the end of his sheet. You may want to check out the last parts of the Bariaur and Ranger entries for new racial or class abilities that you'd like to buy.

Character Points can also be spent to buy new Proficiencies. A Weapon Proficiency or Language costs 2 CPs, a 1-slot Nonweapon costs 3, a 2-slot costs 5, and a 3-slot costs 6. Proficiency scores can be improved by one per additional CP spent.

If you prefer, CPs can be held onto for use in play. Spending one can adjust any attack, save, or check by 1d6 -- it's a handy way to make sure you can survive an otherwise fatal attack, or get in a surefire hit on an otherwise untouchable opponent.
