"We should help that village."
"No."
"It's the right thing to do."
"We're busy."
""It's barely out of our way.""
"It still costs us time."
"There could be treasure..."
"Don't care."
"What, are you scared of one little beasty?"
"Not gonna be baited."
"Aw c'mon, we're in, it dies, we're out, everyone's happy!"
"Not the high-ups when they hear we let that Knight of the Post get away."
"...we're coming back here afterward."
"Fine."
Unlike most Tieflings, Victus Vordeam was raised by a loving mother who cared nothing that her son was the product of rape by a Baatazu. Unfortunately, this didn't last long... when he was still young, a drunken group of lesser Tana'ri slaughtered his mother before his own eyes, and would have done the same for him if not for a passing group of Mercykillers who heard her screams. Those who survived arrest where quickly tried and executed. Victus insisted that he watch, and after witnessing justice carried out by his own eyes, he decided upon his path in life then and there. Talking his way into staying at the Mercykiller barracks, Victus began frequenting the Great Gymnasium to hone his skills. It was there that he first met Tenimir.
Tenimir grew up a rather typical Aasimar, raised in the Outlands by his human mother with frequent though irregular visits from his father. During one such visit, a group of fleeing fiends attempted to escape through a portal near Tenimir's home. Watching his father valiantly hold back the group long enough for the pursuing Mercykillers to arrive lit a fire in him. Shortly after, he set out for Sigil, with arrangements made to stay with a Celestial his father was friends with, while he trained with the Ciphers at the Great Gymnasium. Ever the friendly and outspoken soul, Tenimir quickly made friends with the only other boy near his age he saw there: a young Tiefling named Victus. In almost no time the two became inseperable, though Victus always kept a cold mask of focus up. The only time Tenimir managed to make him open up, Victus spoke of his past and his decision to join the Red Death with a zeal that quickly infected Tenimir, and so their goals became one: to protect the weak and deliver justice from within the ranks of the Mercykillers.
The two formed an odd pair, balancing each other very well. While Tenimir honed his strength and trained extensively with claymore-style weaponry, Victus preferred to build upon his natural speed, becoming exceedingly proficient with the staff. Victus showed a brilliant aptitude for tracking and puzzles, while Tenimir possessed somewhat amazing charm and people-skills. The enthusiasm and energy Tenimir virtually overflowed with was countered by the logical and precise manner in which Victus acted. Together they made an impressive team able to track down the most evasive criminals and bring them to justice.
One's Lawful Good, one's Lawful Neutral, both believe in justice, and depending on CPs and how Weapon Specilization works in your games, they'll either be a Paladin and a... something... like a Ranger but not since they have to be good... or just a pair of Fighters. I'll have to look into it.
