As the group walks here and there, Skelter attempts to communicate silently with the Bebelith by subvocalizing, imitating the shapes and sounds of words in his mouth, but not providing the breath needed to make them audible to folks who do listening with their ears.
"Can you hear me, fiend? I bring a warning for you. Do not think that healing the Deva can be done without a price. That price will no doubt be your existence. Know that I have no love for the Deva, and I see no reason to sacrifice your existence for his. My reasons for being here lie...elsewhere."
After a moment, Skelter continues, "This guilt you feel, it is not real. It comes from the Deva's inimical influence. You need to reject it. Unfortunately it seems that his destruction would cause your own, so that option is not open to us. Instead, you need to channel it to a purpose more beneficial. To yourself that is. You helped the petitioners earlier in order to account for damage you had done earlier. Trying maintain your own balance like that is pointless."
"This whole lot thinks that you're pacified. A sick puppy too scared to bite because it will have to make amends later on. What you forget is the bite itself has balance. You give can hurt others, but in doing so you make yourself stronger in ferocity and reputation. Helping the petitioners in the wagon may have seemed like purely a good thing to do, but you did not remain to hear their jeers about the fiend who forgot its nature. The balance was maintained, but not in your favor."
"If you want to reject the Deva's poisonous influence, next time you run across those petitioners, or any others like them, you would do best to rip them to shreds. Once your own nature has overcome the Deva's, these feelings that he projects into you will not hurt so much."
