UATHACH'S BELIEFS
[Incomplete]
The following are some thoughts on her beliefs, filed in no particular order.
*Wraith has always interpreted the Dustman philosophy as a Hopeful. She exists in a multiverse of Death and suffering, which she refers to as "Purgatory", and so she seeks to return to True Life. But this can only be achieved by proving oneself worthy through tests, and purging the soul of emotion; or in the least finding equilibrium or a tranquil state of mind. "We all exist in a multiverse of Death and suffering - or Purgatory - so we must purify ourselves of emotion, or in the least, find emotional equilibrium, to be reborn again in True Life."
But at this point, Wraith is being held back; by the demons of her past, her need to find her roots [her blood father], and her recent traumas [her son's abduction, losing her home, and discovering the mutilated corpse of her son's nursemaid. She's at a point of indecision, uncertainty and internal conflict. She has paused many times to reflect upon her life up until this point, seeing that there's a reason behind her suffering, so she doesn't know what to believe...
*If Belief is Power, then Knowledge is Truth. Ignorance begets only harm, and fear of the unknown. "The more we understand about ourselves and our current state of existence, and the multiverse around us, for what it is, the better we are for that knowledge. And the more we know and understand about Death, the more we learn to respect, and the less we fear, the inevitable for all things."
*Power corrupts: Absolute power corrupts absolutely [I've heard this phrase before, and it seems like a pretty good basis for a belief against domination, corruption, and totalitarian/autocratic governments.]
*Wraith believes that she's being Tested, and that she must prove herself before she can ascend from her current state of False Life, and discover the Truth. Everything that has happened to her so far gives her reason to think that she must be suffering for a purpose.
*Wraith believes in "Karma": Every action has it's corresponding consequences.
*Wraith believes that this multiverse, or False Life, is Purgatory; a place of penance and retribution. A testing ground, of sorts. "When we died, we came here. Why? Because it's our penance for something we did wrong while we were alive, so now we must prove ourselves in order to move on from this False Life." She believes she is stuck in this "life" because she must've done something horribly wrong in a former incarnation to deserve this kind of penance.
*She believes that she needs to experience and examine her emotions in order to properly recognise them for what they are, and purge herself. She also believes that one must experience existence in order to better understand and appreciate their current state. She rationalises this belief as follows: "How can I desensitise - indeed, purify - myself of something I have never experienced?" Hence why she seeks and freely gives kindness, compassion, friendship,, charity and love [though she often confuses lust for romantic love].
*She believes that everyone is equal regardless of wealth, power, birth right, or social status. We all died as equals, and every deader in the Cage eventually turns up in the Mortuary, to be cremated, buried, or risen as zombie workers. Material things mean nothing in the end. Examples: The poor aren't lesser beings simply for being born poor. And likewise, creatures like Tieflings shouldn't be treated as blackguards for the circumstances of their birth and bloodline.
*She believes that everyone has the right to discover their own Truth at their own pace, no matter what that truth might be. Enlightenment and appreciation of one's current state of Death comes not with indoctrination and preaching, but rather through introspection and self-discovery. If they are meant to discover the Truth, then enlightenment will come to them, when they are ready to learn and understand it. And if that doesn't happen in this incarnation, then it will happen in the next.
*Everyone has the right to freedom, and everyone has the right to live, and learn as they please, without the interferance of others. But, with these rights comes the responsibility to accept the consequences of their actions, to do no undue harm, and to treat themselves, others and the community with the respect they would want in return.
There are exceptions to this rule of course, such as those things Wraith finds abhorent: societies and individuals that support or practice slavery; harsh, unfair and cruel punishments; and torture, for whatever reason.
*Wraith believes in retribution. If the most noble of beings is capable of sin, then surely the most vile can be redeemed, if they choose to rise above the pit of corruption, and walk a better path from one of darkness. Redemption is part of the purification process, and a step closer to ascension.
*Though she doesn't believe in killing recklessly, or for pleasure or sport, Wraith knows that sometimes taking a life is unavoidable; self-defense is not murder.
*Wraith believes in her own Autonomy, and independance, drawing strength from her individuality, her convictions, and the belief that all have the right to freedom and independance. She isn't the sort to conform for the sake of conformity, nor is she the sort to indoctrinate someone else, or interfere with their free-will, and their right to discover and learn for themselves. Exceptions are those occassions when she is forced to intervene [by using necromancy or her innate gift of Suggestion] for the sake of stopping another from doing harm.
