For a Favored Enemy, the Ranger chooses a genus of creature (whether humanoid, monstrous, animal, or what-have-you). If choosing a Favored Environment, the Ranger selects an environment (such as Aquatic, Marsh, Plains, or Mountain). Thereafter, he receives a +2 bonus to Hide, Knowledge (Nature), Listen, Move Silently, Spot, and Survival checks related to that environment.
