A larger crowd gathers for the second free-for-all match of the night. A Grecian soldier in bronze hoplite armor and crested helm has taken his place in the ring, armed with spear and large shield emblazoned with the stylized head of a great insect. A short sword sheathed at his hip serves as a secondary weapon.
"Returning to the ring after his initial defeat, welcome back the Myrmidon! And a newcomer tonight, his opponent: the Burning Chaosman!"
(Rhenai, make your entrance if you please.)

Rhenai stalks into the ring, looking upon his opponent with a look contempt on his face. "If you think you're beating me, you've got another thing coming, Bug-Boy" he says, drawing his halberd.
OOC:I'm gonna ready a Daze spell to throw at him first round.

(Since you're already within melee range of one another, casting a spell will give him an attack of opportunity. You can deny him the free attack by making a DC 15 Concentration check, but if that fails the spell is ruined.)

OOC: Forget about it for now then. I'll just ready it before the next fight. Isn't initiative a d10 Stix?

[ooc: that's in 2e. In 3-3.5e all dice rolls [eccept damage] as I understand it are d20 rolls. Though it could also be a house rule. ]

(OOC: Initiative rolls are 1d20 + Dex bonus if you have one. The Feat Improved Initiative and some magic spells/items can also affect it. The rules as written have initiative rolled once at the start of any given combat, but I seem to remember Stix using a slightly different system where initiative is rolled once at the start of every round.)

(Actually, the rule of thumb in this system is to always roll as high as possible, no matter what. However, you do have a +7 Initiative modifier, so you'll still beat your opponent's roll; the next action is yours.
(If you're making an attack roll, it's a d20, + your Base Attack Bonus and your Strength modifier. If the die roll result is his AC -- 16 -- or better, make a new post with your damage roll. For a halberd, that's d10 + your Strength modifier. If you'd like to try something else, such as a feint or disarm, say so, and I'll tell you how to roll it.
(I should also note that you have Combat Expertise, which means you can take a penalty of -X on your attack roll to gain +X to your AC. X can be no higher than 5.)

OOC: Crap.
IC: Rhenai charges at the man and swings his halberd, but overpowers it and stumbles, missing the berk.

(Your Base Attack Bonus is +5 and your Strength modifier is +2, so you actually have a +7 to attack rolls. For this round, we'll say you dropped your attack by 5 to improve your AC by 5.)
