Options to consider:

• Multiclass Fighter/Mage 3/3
  
• Dual-class Fighter 2, Mage 4
  
• Dual-class Fighter 3, Mage 3
  
• Dual-class Fighter 4, Mage 2
  

If you want to swap around some stats and really flex the dual-classing, you could probably swing some combination of fighter, mage, and either thief or psionicist.

I think Kale will be a reasonably straight forward conversion actually, he doesn't concern me very much. I'll have to give it a little bit of thought but I suspect I'll push some fairly even split of Dual-class fighter/mage. The psionicist is an interesting suggestion though, I'll have to mull it over.
