2e XP: 148700 Suggestions: Specialist wizards can't multiclass, but Gl'Fnak could have all the abilities of his 2e self and then some if he dual-classes. Examples of how the levels might work if you dual: - Transmuter 9, Thief 2-5
- Transmuter 8, Thief 7
- Transmuter 7, Thief 8
- Transmuter 5, Thief 9
If you advance Thief at the same pace as (or ahead of) Transmuter, you can actually scrap the d6 HD on your wizard class and save 10 CPs to use elsewhere. *** Thief level 1 5 CPs *** +5: Thief level 2 -- 10 CPs *** Transmuter level 1 +10: More opposition schools (Conjuration, Invocation/Evocation) -- 15 CPs +15: Reduced spell progression -- 30 CPs -10: No components -- 20 CPs -10: Armor -- 10 CPs

Hmm...that looks potentially quite tasty. Are all CPs "generic"? I.e., can CPs from thief levels be kept and used to enhance transmuter class? Can they be used for tiefling abilities? Do CPs earned from restrictions/drawbacks have to be spent immediately and/or within the same category from which they're drawn? (i.e., can some transmuter drawback bonus CPs be kept until I switch back to thief and then spent to get something like Know Faction or Portal Lock?) For that matter, (assuming they can be used across classes) can I buy new abilities to class A when I'm leveling in class B? When dual-classing how do CPs work? Thief 1 = +5 Thief 2 = +5 Transmuter 1 = +1? +2? +5? Transmuter 2 = +1? +2? +5? What would happen (CP and HP-wise) if I did something like this progression: [Th = Thief, Tr = Transmuter] Th 1 Th 2 Tr 1 Tr 2 Tr 3 Tr 4 Th 3 Th 4 Th 5 Tr 5 Do I have to always have a higher level in thief to have gotten the d6 HD?

You get the hit die of your leading level. Dual-classing to 5/5 in that way would look like this:
Th 1 -- 5 CPs from race + any from flaws Th 2 -- d6 HD, 5 CPs Tr 1 -- CPs from transmuter flaws Tr 2 -- 1 CP Tr 3 -- d4 HD, 5 CPs Tr 4 -- d4 HD, 5 CPs Th 3 -- 1 CP Th 4 -- 1 CP Th 5 -- d6 HD, 5 CPs Tr 5 -- 1 CP
HP: 6 + 2d6 + 2d4 CPs: 29 + flaws
It'd require a 17 Int and Dex (which I'm sure will be no problem). CPs from any source can be spent anywhere, and you can buy any ability to which your race or classes give you access at any time.
