John hammers away twice with the morning star, up around the thighs of the tremendous creature, his own stubby, muscled form trying to make an inroad on the foul thing as quickly as possible.

THAC0 is 11, hit armor class -4... let's see if he can get the bonus from dirty fighting for that first round which might be enough to actually let him -strike- the badguy.

As the fiend's true nature is revealed, Vahn groans loudly and takes a few steps back. "Really? Really!? We JUST soddin' started this ride!"
Init: (Speed of Psionics the same as Spell-like abilities, or do I have a speed of 0 like I hope? =P) [dice=10]

Jocyl draws the silver bladed short sword from his belt, but makes no attempt to attack the creature while backing away slowly. He then calls out to the Nycaloth, "It's not the Deva, you are mistaken! Try waiting for answers to your questions before killing all of my escorts!"

(Speaking is a free action for the round, provided you're not casting a full-round verbal spell -- you don't have to wait for an opening or a clear line of sight to speak. For Psionics, most powers have a speed of zero; it's the Preparation Time listed in the power description.)

At Jocyl's warning, the nycaloth only snarls and moves in for the kill while Abaia does nothing to defend herself. Xianna, meanwhile, takes advantage of the various distractions around her and slinks around the fiend, positioning herself for a better strike.
Hadrian and Gl'Fnak's spells go off in rapid succession (no visible effects, but both succeed), and Vahn's power seems to slip right off of the axe, which must bear some form of enchantment.
Sirocco's missile flies between the yugoloth and bebilith, landing unharmed on the ground on the far side of the fight; John and Tllith's ferocious assaults, though failing to wound the fiend, prevent it from striking Abaia. Unlike a blindly raging tanar'ri, the nycaloth keeps the perfect focus and composure of a trained soldier -- or killer.

Tllith hisses annoyedly! "You are hard to hit! Why are you hard to hit? I do not like you being hard to hit! You should be easier to hit!"
She's approximately under the monster's feet, and there aren't that many people crowded around the thing. She belches out a vast but narrow cone of faint lavender vapor, smelling of bitter chamomile, pointing mostly into the sky -- covering the nycaloth's head, and, hopefully, nobody else. A baby dragon is still a dragon, after all.
I think that's spell-like. If not, add two to her initiative, I guess. [dice=10+3][rand=941781043125792941016089039837533939183989185961521257137594007125]

Hadrian HP 61 THAC0 15 AC -1 Celestial Aura Prayer
The aasimar offered a word of quiet thanks to his Power as he felt the Allfather's blessing descend upon them. Having no particular skill with stealth or deception he closed ranks with John and the other individuals who had decided to meet the creature head on. Well accustomed to the ebb and flow of combat, Hadrian waited for an opening in the fiend's defences to exploit before ramming his blade home, gripped solidly in a double fisted blow.

Jocyl sneers at this collection of weakling's attempts to down the massive fiend. Still not attacking, he shouts to Abaia, "Alright you sodden bebelith, you feel guilty now? How much more guilty do you think you will feel if you allow all these mortals to die, only to save you, just to allow the 'loth to kill you in the end, too? All of their deaths would be completely wasted! The guilt would be overwhelming! At least if you defend them from the 'loth you can fix the balance in some other way, in the future. If you do not, you willbe in agony!"
Jocyl does his best to intimidate Abaia into acting. (Cha 16, Intimidate 4 (+3, +2 Persuasive), or at least it was in the old rule set. no idea now.) [dice=20] [rand=546909980475902607005071081221104409268053248524679520607283338904]

(...I'm not sure what die to roll if gripping the long sword two handed) (A longsword is 1d8 vs. M or smaller and 1d12 vs. L or bigger, regardless of one- or two-handed use.) ( Something I wasn't paying attention to: Hadrian is down two casting levels for distance from Ysgard, so he actually wouldn't be able to cast Prayer at all. We'll call it a Bless instead, if that works -- +1 to attacks and saves through Round 6 for everyone fighting the nycaloth. My apologies for the confusion.)

Seeing the two tieflings both attempting to move into surprise positions behind the creature, Nuuko walks around the nycaloth in the opposite direction. Hoping to distract it a bit more and allow them to better position themselves, the Athasian spins his swords with a flourish while continuing to glare at their foe.

John's eyes narrow, and his determination just grows a little bit, unwilling to fall back or be broken even by the massive creature, hurtling the morning star towards the knees of the fell fiend, roaring defiance even as his blows slide off or are otherwise baulked.
