"Uh....o......kay...." the Tiefling woman says hesitantly. What's the worst that could happen? she asked herself. She really didn't want to know the answer to that, but she proffered her hand to Jocyl.

Jocyl seizes Xianna's wrist in a surprisingly strong grip, and reaches out to lay his other palm on Abaia's carapace.

Xianna is wracked with pain as Jocyl shares the bebilith's wound with her. Abaia shrinks away in horror -- her punishment is her own, and must not cause the suffering of others....
The fiend's armor stops the blades and bludgeons turned against it before beginning to give off a soft glow and a haze of heat. The nycaloth stares off over the group, focusing on some nearby point in space, and suddenly, a hellish gust of brimstone-reeking wind scours the field, carrying stinging grit and a flurry of ash. Xianna, Jocyl, and John all notice the source -- a ragged hole torn between planes, a temporary gate to the nightmarish Gehenna....

In rapid succession, a half-dozen insectile humanoids, seven feet in height, come pouring through the rift. Their long, lean limbs and broad chests are covered in chitinous plates the color of dirty ivory; their wide, armored skulls feature glaring red eyes, small upturned noses, and mouths full of serrated teeth. All of them bear brutal infernal weaponry -- scourges, chain sickles, barbed spears and saw-toothed swords round out their arsenal.
Spotting the brawl before them, the mezzoloths settle into a wedge formation, the rear rank bristling with spear-points as they begin to march toward the fray. At the head of the formation is a 'loth with a sickening shield raised high -- the limbless trunk of a human, face contorted in a paroxysm of agony as his fiendish captor grips him by his exposed spine....

Tllith glibs at Abaia! "Abaia! You are doing this wrong! We need to punish you the right way, not the wrong way! The wrong way is so wrong! Getting chopped by a whatsaloth is the wrong way! You need to defend yourself against that axadaemon! Otherwise the rest of us have to defend you against it! We will all die from too much defending you! Then you will be guilty about us dying and it won't even be any fun for you! So now you have to go fighting at the boogaloth! We will punish you later! With the right punishment!" And so on, with a few-year-old's fervent passion and fever-dream logic.
Glibness normally has a Charisma check, and Tllith has an 18 Charisma even if it doesn't work that way on PCs. Here's the raw roll, subject to secret DM modifiers of course...
[dice=20] If she can, she'll also attack the nycaloth. Bard guesses she can use claws but not bite, since she's talking a lot.

"Listen to the snack, you blasted spider! Since you can't seem to think farther forward than your own bleedin death, allow me to think for you! If you die, we ALL die, and it will be your fault? How can you be so selfish to think that your personal punishment is more important than the lives of your comrades? You are a worm, and can only hope be redeemed in service to those who need your help. I had you hurt the tiefling to make it clear what you are doing in immediate terms, since you seem to be blind to the future if it happens more than ten seconds from now. How can you be so cruel to let everyone else here bear the burden for your evil? Kill these damned 'loths!"
Another intimidate attempt [dice=20]

John scowls, "More of them..." He growls to himself, then turns back to the Nycaloth, squaring up on the huge beast, and whispers, "Kill the head, and the body dies. Must stop him..."
And so he tries, still attempting to spike something important on the huge beast with his morningstar yelling to Tllith "Blast a hole in their formation! FLame them!"

Jocyl, not being much for armed combat, moves to guard the backs of those face to face with the Nycaloth. Silvery sword out in a guard position, he timidly awaits attack.
"I'm not so sure, taker, that these lesser fiends will just disappear if we somehow manage to take out the greater. But, uh...I'll leave the tactics to you."
He watches the wicked phalanx approaching for another few heartbeats.
"We may want to run," Jocyl says as he eyeballs the terrain, looking for a group of pilgrims sufficiently large to get in the fiends' ways if they decide to chase.
While eyeing the portal, Jocyl mumbles something under his breath. (See private board - man I should really learn the rules properly so I don't have to keep doing this) [dice=10+3] initiative[rand=7090900093317032729395456612110161202655732631685495703388005495]

Gl'Fnak pulls a small golden bell from one of his belt pouches and, still staying out of the nycoloth's view, makes a complex series of very subtle motions with it. The tiefling passes the gilt bell - making no noises as though it is muffled or lacks a clapper - purposefully in front of his face a few times during the involved process. Finally, he returns the bell to the belt pouch from which he had drawn it.
